OActive project was present at the 12th Panhellenic Scientific Conference in Chemical Engineering (12 PESCHM), that took place on 29-30 May 2019, in Athens, Greece. A poster presentation from AXIA Innovation was given regarding Data Management Plan, while also flyers were distributed during the poster sessions and the sessions regarding “Biochemical Engineering – Biotechnology – Biomedical Engineering”.
On 15 May 2019, OActive partners participated in the review meeting of the project that took place in Luxembourg. The meeting was held in order to assess the first 18 months of the project and discuss feedback on the activities carried out during this period. During the meeting, the project WP leaders presented their achievements to the Project officer and the reviewers, who provided useful comments on the progress of the project. University of Nicosia, the coordinator of OActive project is organising a one day Workshop on Osteoarthritis dedicated to the description of the European Research Program OActive and will serve as a recruitment day for early stage patients and persons with high risk to present OA. The workshop will be hosted by Apollonion Private Hospital of Nicosia, on Saturday 16th of March. Future treatments and methods of diagnosis will be analysed, while the workshop agenda includes topics related to: 1. “Osteoarthritis: What is it and how it is treated?”, 2. “OActive Research Program: Benefits of Program Participation” and 3.”Walking Analysis – How it Can Help You”.
HULAFE, one of the partners of the OActive consortium will participate at the XXVIII congress of SVMEFR, which will take place on 1-2 March 2019, in Benidorm, Spain. SVMEFR is the annual Congress of Physicians Specialists in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of the Valencian Community. It is a national conference organised by the Rehabilitation Services of the Department of Health of Marina Baixa and the Valencian Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The event attracts high level scientists and the focus will be given to the topics of “Nervous Therapeutic Blocks” and “Brain damage”.

Two open access publications deriving from the results of the OActive EU projects are now available (January 2019). In particular, University of Patras has published the work “Stiffness Modulation of Redundant Musculoskeletal Systems ” at the Journal of Biomechanics and “Modeling musculoskeletal kinematic and dynamic redundancy using null space projection” at PLoS ONE. OActive is looking for volunteers in the following groups: 1. Healthy individuals in high risk of developing OA (HULAFE, Spain), 2. Post-traumatic evaluation of athletes (ANIMUS, Greece), and 3. Elderly people (UNIC, Cyprus) to participate in the research activities of the project. AXIA has attended the 26th Panhellenic Congress of Rheumatology that took place on 6-9 December 2018, in Athens, Greece. The Congress’s agenda covers the whole range of Rheumatic Diseases, including problems in daily practice of Rheumatology.

The BASES Conference 2018 is taking place on Tuesday 27 – Wednesday 28 November at the Harrogate Convention Centre, North Yorkshire, UK. This is a 2 days of world-leading content across sport and exercise sciences. At the BASES Conference you can present your work, share your most up-to-date findings and receive valuable feedback from colleagues, meet other researchers and make valuable future contacts, while all abstracts are published in an online supplement of the Journal of Sports Sciences. Moreover, exhibition stands are available, with approximately 500 delegates, including sport and exercise scientists, senior students, BASES members, industry professionals and researchers.
Twelve-months meeting of the OActive H2020 project took place on the 27th of November in Valencia, Spain, in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Health Research Institute La Fe. All partners attended the meeting and discussed on management and administrative issues, the work plan, the progress so far across the different work packages, as well as the future steps aiming to the successful implementation of the project. In fact two working groups where formed after half of the meeting: “Biomechaniscs Group” and “Biomedical Group” to further discuss on specific technical issues that need to be tackled.
