Healthio is the healthcare conference, held in Barcelona from 16 to 18 October, 2018. The focus of the event is to bring together patients, professionals and companies in the health sector. LEITAT participated in Healthio conference presenting OActive project.
UNIC will attend the Reseacher’s Night taking place in Limassol, Cyprus on 28 September 2018. Researcher’s Night is celebrated in more than 300 European cities with a great involvement of the research / academic community. Through a variety of scientific actions, experiments and events, research welcomes both academia as well as the wider public.
ANIMUS will participate in National Congress of Hellenic PRM Society on 23-25 November 2018 in Athens, Greece. The conference will be attended by specialized scientists who will share their experience from everyday practice. At the same time, they will demonstrate that their specialization provides rehabilitation to patients with pathological, neurological and orthopedic conditions and disorders, from childhood to old age and from prevention to full rehabilitation.
University of Patras participated in the Virtual Physiological Human conference, taking place in Zaragoza, Spain during 5-7 September 2018. With the work entitled “The Effect of Kinematic and Dynamic Redundancy on the Assessment of Joint Reaction Loads” they have presented OActive results related to the estimation of the bounds of the joint reaction loads for a gait movement.

The 6M OActive project meeting took place in Liverpool on 30 May of 2018. Hosted by Prof. Bill Baltzopoulos at the Liverpool John Moores University (UK), OActive 6M meeting gathered 13 partners: eight RTDs and five companies from seven EU countries. It was a good opportunity for partners to meet and discuss the progress of the running work packages, their results and the activities to come. Partners also discussed more thoroughly about Biomechanics and Biomedical issues, as well as technical and ethics issues arising from the OActive project.
In Patras InnoVation Quest Expo 80 exhibitors presented their excellent work, the results of the research done at Academic Institutions, Research Institutes and Innovative Enterprises, The attendance of visitors exceeding 5,500 showed that society and businesses have embraced this effort while at the same time distinguished scientists, contributors to innovative entrepreneurship and the political world also attended the event.
AXIA and Time.lex had a meeting on 18 April 2018 in Brussels regarding collaboration of the two entities under OActive project. During the meeting ethical issues related to data management plan, as well as legal issues concerning the collection and use of data from patients and also healthy individuals were discussed.
OActive partner, University of Patras (Visualization and Virtual Reality Group) received the Grand Technical Award, among the twenty teams that participated in the OpenSim Advanced User Workshop that was held at Stanford University during 28-31 March 2018. The paper submitted entitled “Multi-scale analysis of the knee complex” aims to develop multi-scale, patient-specific models of the knee to predict and prevent the progression of osteoarthritis using coupled rigid-body and finite element (FE) analyses. This work is part of the OACTIVE – H2020 project. Some of the project goals are to develop patient-specific knee models in order to assess individuals’ knee mechanics at a tissue level, so that proactive measurements, such augmented reality gait retraining can be made to avoid the progression of OA. On March 9th and 10th OActive partners AXIA and CETRI met at the AXIA office in Munich, Germany. The discussion focused on the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) plan of the project and the Data Management Plan (DMP). Data collection protocols were discussed in correlation to the DMP and the documentation of social parameters. Furthermore, the OActive webpage was reviewed and upcoming activities related to the dissemination and exploitation plan were analyzed.
